Friends are special. Friends are an important
part of life. It takes a
Koalaty Kid attitude and a lot of practice to be a good friend.

Welcome to a WebQuest about
FRIENDSHIP!

The Task
By the end of this unit, our class will create posters and powerpoint presentations to share the many ways we can be a good friend to others.

Process
1.)  Your group needs to assign these roles:
        * Reader
        * Recorder
        * Mouser
        * Time Keeper

2.) Next, open your group folder to discover the friendship trait assigned to your team.

3.) Find the lotus diagram in your team folder. The Recorder should write the name of your team's friendship trait in the middle box.

4.) SCROLL DOWN the page to read about your team's trait. As a group, talk about your trait and what it means. Now, write down words that describe your friendship trait in each of the boxes left on your lotus diagram.

Trustworthiness

Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends and country

Respect

Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements

Responsibility

Do what you are supposed to do • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your choices

Fairness

Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly

Caring

Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need

Cooperation

Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment

5.) Now you need to get some supplies. Find your team's "puffy-letter" poster on the supply table. Also, take 2 colored markers and go back to your work station.

6.) As a team, look at your lotus diagram and, on the puffy-letter poster, take turns writing down the words from your lotus that describe your team's friendship trait.

7.) Now turn in your 2  big markers to the supply table and choose 5 mini-markers from the basket. Use these markers to decorate the rest of your puffy-letter poster.

Conclusion
1.)  Your team will present your friendship trait to the rest of your classmates. You will use your puffy-letter poster as part of your presentation.

2.) As a team, decide how you will present your information. You will have a microphone to use for your presentation. Let your teachers know if you need any other supplies. GET CREATIVE and have fun with it!

Next Steps
1.) CONGRATULATIONS! We hope you enjoyed this team project... Now your teachers will share the next steps as you create your powerpoint presentations on friendship.  Good Work!

In all things... be a good friend to others.
