Introduction

Wouldn't it be fun to travel to the center of the earth? Have you ever wondered what it is like inside the earth? What do you think the earth is made of? If you dig a hole straight through to the other side, will you come out in China?

Completing this webquest will help you find the answers to some of these questions and others you may have. You should be able to answer the following questions when you have finished this webquest:

QUESTION 1: How many layers are inside the earth?

QUESTION 2: What are the names for each layer?

QUESTION 3: What is each layer made of?

 

 



The Task

Read further in the webquest to discover how you will find the following information on the Internet:

* The number of layers in the earth.

* The name of each layer.

* What each layer is made of.



The Process

Complete the following steps:

1. Go to the web site on Earth Layers.

2. Read the information about each of the earth's layers.

3.  Record the information on your data sheet.

4. Now visit these sites and add any other facts that you learn.
