7 Components of a Quality School

Board of Education
DILT Leadership Team
District Office
Office of the Superintendent

The continuous improvement efforts of District 108 are grounded on four Core Values (Literacy, Humanity, Unity, and Informed Practice). These Core Values serve as the basis on which the district seeks to serve the students, parents, and entire learning community.

All organizations are perfectly aligned to get the results they get.

~ Jones

What gets measured, gets managed.
What gets managed and rewarded, gets done.

~ Peter Drucker

You can make progress in an unaligned system, but you can make more progress in an aligned system.

~ Mike Ward

Background...

Information was collected during the 2003-04 school year regarding the positive and negative aspects of previous Quality Assurance efforts in District 108. This information revealed that administrators wanted a refined, standardized, yet comprehensive process for looking at the systems in their school. The superintendent then began to develop a system that:

  1. incorporated the 7 Components of a Quality School;
  2. included internal and external reviews that were meaningful to individual schools while guiding system-wide improvement;
  3. continued District 108's quality journey; and
  4. standardized the process for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data so that findings could be shared across the district and with other schools/districts that focus on quality initiatives.
What it is.
  1. A structured process for collecting standardized data that can be shared with other schools in and out of the district.
  2. A greatly refined continuation of Quality Assurance efforts done previously in District 108.
  3. A way to engage a school team (Systems Check Team) in the implementation of feedback from an internal and external review.
  4. Aligned with the 7 Components of a Quality School.
  5. Directly related to District Goals.
What it is NOT.
  1. A compliance activity.
  2. A process that can or should be completed alone.
  3. A one year event.
