Closing the Gap

This year, we took part in the Illinois State Board of Education's Closing the Gap Initiative. As part of this initaitive, we received $143,602 from the state, contributed a district match of $54,568 for a grand total of $198,170. With the money we were able to purchase the following:

  • additional licenses for library automation software and a new client for library searches
  • 2 ATM switches - upgrades for the network
  • server replacement for RYHS - Samba
  • backup server for all district information
  • UPS Protection for Data Closets
  • Mobile Training Lab for Professional Development
  • Student Workstations

Our purchases were based on goals in our Technology Plan Update. These goals will also be a part of our District Long Range Plan.

  • Enhance community communications and collaboration.
  • Extensive daily student use of technology tools to create knowledge for themselves and to share it with others.
  • Teachers, administrators, school library personnel, and support staff master technological skills needed to perform their work.
  • Manage information and data to enhance decision-making.
  • Provide fiscal and human resources to assist in adding, maintaining, and replacing technology.
