Jan Taylor, you are soooo creative. Did anyone sweet-talk you? Welcome
Dione to SILT.
FeedForward Dave

Can we amend the enrollment cards with a maintenance continuum?
1-3 students would be considered low maintenance students, 4-6 medium maintenance,
and 7-9 would be high maintenance students. Nancy is already working on
this and it would be called time consumption. Fourth grade will
discuss this at grade level meeting and see if the enrollment cards given
to 3rd grade meet our needs.
-
Was there a revision Fire Exit routes for classes that have relocated?
Fire Drill -there was a lack of seriousness for the fire drill.
Can we revisit the drill? We discussed this under the regular agenda
See agenda item information listed below.
-
When will the final decision be made for next years calendar? Noelle
will talk to the entire staff Friday and give a survey. She will share
then. Is there anyway the start of school could just affect one school?
-
From the glazed look on students, there is clearly too much testing
going on? There are way too many deadlines in February. Is it possible
to change this for next year so the stress can be alleviated from the students?
Can we move one of tests? It looks like ISAT might move to April by looking
at the news and the development between Chicago and the ISBE. Stay Tuned

LC resources issues - Because our school has the open doors policy,
there are many materials missing from the LC office and behind the counter.
We need to take care of our people and materials. The solution is for everyone
to ask to go behind the desk. Students are not to be using the letter cutter
without adult supervision. This machine can be dangerous. This needs to
go out to all buildings. Laminating time is from 8:00 4:30. No laminating
should be done at another time because Glenna and Jan are responsible for
changing the film and the film has run out (which is not easy to reload).
Please remember the hours. Some possible solutions for the laminating issues
are to get a cart and wheel the machine into the office nightly, get rid
of the laminating machine, or have all schools purchase one.
-
On the ARA customer survey, they are below on cleanliness and appearance
and average on thoroughness and courtesy. This report will be shared every
month. It is also shared with the Board of Education via Superintendent
Soldwedel.
Fund raiser Nancy
-
We will again have Club Choices for our fundraiser. It will be done in
the afternoon on February 16 in the restaurant. This is a first time due
to the construction. If the time doesnt work out, move to another time
frame and switch with another teacher. The restaurant can only hold 1 village
(208 students max)
-
The fundraiser ends on February 28.
-
A handout was giving explaining the procedure and prizes.
Copy Machine Brad and Dave
-
The part for the learning center copy machine has been ordered (as a
result of the vandalism). For now, we all are using the upstairs workroom
copy machine. Using that machine means each copy costs SILT 2 cents. Thanks
for being cooperative and patience on this matter.
Master Schedule Dave
-
We need an action team for the master schedule. The members already are
Coach, Debby, Lynne, Jan T., Camille, Diane, Jackie, and Vickie.
-
The objective is to maximize student participation, maximize the time and
talent of the exploratory teachers, and honor contractual obligations.
-
This is only preliminary information. We will only have 24
sections of regular division classes next year. CBI will start out here
next year and hopefully stay the whole year. The factors involved in deciding
the schedule include construction issues and projected enrollment. There
probably still will be 3 sections of self-contained next year. Those students
in the gray area between Wilson and Washington that are already here will
be allowed to stay (current 4 & 5 graders). Those coming into 4th
grade will probably not be allowed to attend here. (except possibly those
students who have siblings still at WIS). Stay Tuned
Washington 2000 Pitch Out Evening Brad
-
The storage of teaching materials and supply has became a problem, district
wide. Each school is asked to reduce amount of stored items.
-
A pitch-out evening is being planned to allow staff time to reduce unnecessary
items.
-
Through enterprise monies, we will provide food for this event.
-
An extra dumpster will be brought in and unnecessary stuff will need to
be pitched. Decide as a village what days work best for you. If
the first day is successful, we may have another.
-
State law requires that if we want to pitch something that is district
property we must first offer it to the other schools. It then goes
to the board to decide if it is surplus property and then can be pitched.
Please e-mail a list of any district items that you have to Mary and
Brad.
Evaluation Procedure Dave/Nancy
-
Silt Cabinet commends the quick response that was taken by staff during
the recent fire alarm evacuation signal.
-
We need to take all fire drills seriously. We may be having more false
possible, Brad will notify staff if the construction workers anticipate
an alarm signal may occur as a result of their work.
-
For the evacuation, you need to go through the first available exit door.
Do we want to send students toward the north (by the construction zone)?
The most important issue is to just get out of the building anyway you
can in the fastest manner possible.
-
If a child is left by themselves, they need to get outside. Then they need
to go to the nearest adult. Let students know that if they are in the restroom,
they must go out the nearest door and find an adult. After the commotion
has settled, an adult needs to walk the student over to their regular class
area.
-
Share this with your village and if there are any more questions, let any
SILT members know.
