| Heidi, Toby, Allison, and Ryan went to the studios of WGLO and recorded
a public service announcement focusing on the idea of individual rights.
The student-written message will be broadcast on The Party 98.5 and
99X. The recording engineer was WGLO Assistant Programming Director, Tim
Ylinen. Students worked on the project with Mrs. Hamra and were joined
at the recording studio by Officer Maddox. The ad may air nationally at
a future date. Below is the text for that dialogue. Send these students
a
message of congratulations. They deserve it!
DARE PSA #1 – RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recorded at WGLO on 11/03/99
Ryan G., Allison G., Toby Z., and Heidi H. - writers and performers
TOMMY: That Officer DARE is crazy. Who cares about stupid rights?
SANDY: I do! If we didn’t have rights, things would be sooooo unfair!
RESSA: Yeah! People would walk all over you.
ZACK: Next time that rude kid on the bus tries to take my lunch money,
I’ll tell him I have a right to be respected.
RESSA: And safe!
SANDY: And happy!
TOMMY: But I like taking Zack’s lunch money.
ZACK: Oh, Tommy!
RESSA: Learning how to stand up for ourselves is important.
TOMMY: Well, maybe this DARE stuff is good for something. Next time
my mom tells me to clean my room, I can say No! I have a right to live
like a slob!
SANDY: Tommy, that’s not what we mean and you know it!
TOMMY: Okay, tomorrow during group discussion, you have to listen
to my ideas even if you don’t agree with them.
RESSA: Thanks Officer DARE! (sarcastically)
