Add Stroke/Outline to Text
Using Adobe Photoshop 5.5

1) Open Image
Go to File and Open. Find your image and select open.
   
2) Image, Mode, RGB
Go to image, go down to mode, and then down to RGB Color
   
3) Make Background a Layer
Double click on the Background layer and rename it to Layer 0. If the layers palette is not showing go to Windows , Show Layers.
   











 

4) Insert text
Insert text into the picture file using the text tool.












5) Open the Layers Palette

Choose the Window--> Show Layers menu. (the layers pallate may already be open).

6) Open the Layer Effects Window on the Text Layer
Right click on the text layer, and choose Layer effects in the menu that pops up.









7) Uncheck Drop Shadow

When the effects window opens, Photoshop automatically adds a drop shadow to your image. To take it off, uncheck the box shown to the left.

 






8) From the pull down menu, select Outer Glow
Click on the little arow box to open the menu, then select the Outer Glow.






9) Apply and Change Your Outer Glow Settings.
To apply the outer glow (stroke) to you image, check the apple box. Then change the:
a. Mode to Normal
b. Color to White
c. Opacity to 100%
d. Blur to 3
e. Intensity to 600

10) Hit and your outer glow should be applied.
