We will utilize Title 1 teachers & assistants and the speech therapist to work with students in small groups. We will include more writing activities, incorporating main idea, details, etc. in writing. Main idea will be introduced in Kindergarten through stories & charted. Teachers will model. We will build a collection of reading selections through thematic units and multi-age levels We will use questioning strategies to see if students can identify main idea. We will use graphic organizers in writing to be able to recognize main idea. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students will concentrate on term "topic sentence". We will use projects like a mobile with main idea at top and details hanging down. |
