STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
PREAMBLE: Before the philosophy of a school can become meaningful, relevant, and accurate, the clergy, administration, faculty, staff, students, parents, and parish community must believe in its premise and work cooperatively in its implementation.
PHILOSOPHY: With the belief that education is a process of exploration, interaction, and discovery of self and the world around us, we dedicate ourselves to providing creative and challenging ways of developing the potential of each individual.
Each child whose presence we are priviledged to experience is a uniquely gifted child of God. St. Joseph School strives to recognize each child's unique worth, needs and potential.
As a Catholic School, we strive to instill a Christian lifestyle of worship, work, and play. We believe to enjoy the richness of life, children must develop spiritually, intellectually, morally, physically, emotionally and esthetically. Through the time, efforts, and decisions of the people involved, we endeavor to provide an atmosphere of mutual respect, awareness, and appreciation for individual needs and differences. This is accomplished by providing a well-rounded curriculum that fosters total growth and nurtures a positive self image.
Aware of the constantly changing world around us, St. Joseph School firmly believes in the profound impact to the family structure upon the development of the child. The school community accepts the challenges of cooperatively working with the family towards guiding the child to become responsible for his or her own learning and offering more choices as this responsibility develops.
This Catholic community accepts its responsibilities, continuing and encouraging the development of a Christian attitude and a philosophy of life based on the message of Christ and the teaching of the Gospels.
Realizing that learning is a life-long process and that each individual has a unique impact on society, St. Joseph School commits itself to becoming a positive force in the world.
