Miss.
Oberle
1st Grade Aide - Mrs. Willoughby
Class Saint- St. Katherine Drexel
Miss Oberle has been teaching at St. Joseph School for 22 years. She
choose to teach at St. Joseph School because she feels that God guided
her here. She picked her class saint St. Katherine Drexel, because she
was an American saint
who started schools for Native Americans and African Americans. Miss
Oberle
enjoys playing with her three dogs, playing golf, and
playing
cards and Bunco in her free time. Miss Oberle decided to become a
teacher when she was in Junior High School. Miss Oberle was a student
at Blessed Sacrament in Morton as a child. One of her fondest memories
was in first grade with Sister Carmella. She won a little statue for
having the straightest crayons. She also remembers the Dick and Jane
reading books. When she was in second grade the entire class did not
celebrate First Communion as a whole. Each student had a Sunday that
they received communion by themselves. The subject that she enjoys to
teach
the
most is Reading, but she enjoys teaching all subjects to her 24
first
graders.
Miss Oberle plans to take her class to Hallmark
House 4 different times to help those at the facility celebrate special
events! Their next trips to Hallmark House will be for Valentine's Day
and Easter! The class also will have a field trip to the Hult Health
Educational Center and Forest Park Nature Center and they will visit
Forest Park Nature Center in the spring.
The class is continues to read across America. They
have visited Fargo, North Dakota and are now in Delaware. For their
activities in honor of
Bonanzaville, USA a restored pioneer village with 42 museums, the first
grade made their own replica of a pioneer village shown below. The
first grade class appreciates the books donated from the local Altrusa
Club used to enhance their reading through the Reading is
Fundamental program. The first grade is working with a Write Source
Program which in new for them this school year.
Miss Oberle is looking forward to having some free time and spending
time with her nieces at the end of the school year.
