Mrs. Davis
5th Grade
Class Saint-St. Anthony of Padua

Mrs. Davis has been teaching at St. Joseph School for ten years. She has been teaching for twenty-one years. Mrs. Davis didn't think about teaching until she was a senior in High School. Mrs. Davis attended St. Joseph School grades 1st -6th. Her fondest memory of school was helping the principals and teachers after school.

This year Mrs. Davis has sixteen students in her class, which she says is the smallest amount of students she has ever had. This year the fifth grade class took a field trip to view the replica of the Nina, one of the ships Columbus had in his fleet when he discovered America. A field trip to Dickson Mounds, to learn about Indians, is planned for later in the school year. This year the fifth grade students made up games and played them with the first graders. Also the class was divided into groups and created prayer services. They are planning on entering a contest making cards for the Children's Hospital of Illinois Christmas Cards.
Mrs. Davis class not only studied crystals this year but they are creating various crystals using paper and glue. They have also grown some crystals while working on this unit.
The 5th grade class recently wrote essays on the subject of "What is Your Favorite Patriotic Song and Why?" Congratulations to those who participated and those who's essays placed in the top three. In first place, Amy Mansfield. The runners-up were Kaylee Barnes and Dillion Howser. Those three will receive savings bonds, and Amy's will go on to state!

Here are some pictures of the 5th graders prayer service projects.
