Mrs. McConnell

Kindergarten
Class Saint-St. Nicholas

Mrs. McConnell has been teaching at St. Joseph School for seven years. She started to teach here because her children attended school here. She feels comfortable being a part of the staff. During her free time she enjoys watching her own children play all the sports that they participate in. She  enjoys traveling with her family also.  Mrs. McConnell enjoys teaching Reading the most.  She picked Saint Nicholas as the class saint because he is a saint that many children have some knowledge of already.  Mrs. McConnell originally wanted to be a Speech Therapist but decided to change her career due to the time involved with college. There are 15 students in her class.

Mrs. Graf
Kindergarten
Class Saint-St. Francis

Mrs. Graf has been teaching at. St. Joseph School  for twenty years. Mrs. Correll (a former Kindergarten teacher) asked Mrs. Graf if she would like to teach again.  Mrs. Graf decided to and joined the St. Joseph School staff. In her free time Mrs. Graf likes to read and to work in her yard. She  likes to teach reading, and she likes to read to her students. As a child in Fifth Grade she knew that she wanted to teach Kindergarten. Her childhood  memories of school include helping the Kindergarten class with boots and coats in the winter. The 5th and 6th graders helped the younger Kindergartners. This  is what sparked her desire to teach. Mrs. Graf is awaiting the birth of 2 grandchildren and is planning to spend time with one this summer!
Mrs. Graf took her class on a field trip to see a play at the Peoria Civic Center (Charlotte's Web), and they also went to do their Christmas program at the nursing home with Mrs. McConnell's class.
She picked St. Francis as her class saint because she likes animals and so does her class, so she figured it would be a perfect saint for them. This Kindergarten class  has 15 students. The classroom has an added feature of a post office and grocery store to play in their classroom. This year her class will plant a potato plant and an amaryllis to see how it grows in the classroom!

Kindergarten has completed the task of learning letter people!
Students were allowed to dress up as their favorite letter person (shown below).

The two classes are continuing to  learn their letter people and have shared this with the school. Last semester they paraded to several classrooms exhibiting their letters by dressing up in socks and  funny feet.

The fireman also visited the kindergarten classes to show what "turnout" gear looks like. This is done so that the kids would hopefully not be afraid of the fireman in case they were being rescued. The fire truck was available for them to view also.

Mrs. Graf's class Mass.

The Kindergarten class  have already been on a trip to the  Ackerman's Farm and the students really enjoyed it. They will be performing a play for the residents of Pekin  Manor.

The Kindergarten class celebrated a bountiful and fun Thanksgiving!!
