World
Food Day
On Tuesday, October 16th,
the entire school participated in a day remembering those less
fortunate than we are. On World Food Day we are called to help the
hungry in our own area and those in foreign countries. There are many
ways that we as a school community help. First and foremost
we pray for social justice, peace, those who are hungry and those
who serve the poor. Second, we donate money which will be collected
in the classrooms beginning Monday, October 1st. These donations and
the money from our school lunch on October 16th will go to help Mary
Mbala in Kenya. This is the student we adopted two years ago to support
by paying for her schooling, a place to stay and food. We ask that all
students participate in the rice lunch on October 16th. That sacrifice
will help us to think about what children in many parts of the world
suffer daily. The last way you can help is by participating in
the can food drive which will begin on World Food Day and continue to
November 20th. These items will go to our own parish St. Vincent
dePaul. Remember, what we do for the least of our brothers, we do for
the Lord.
This year classrooms will be having a contest to see who can collect
the most food. The contest will end on November 20. The classroom who
collects the most food items items based on the percentage of students
in their class will be awarded a free dress day.
