If a post is placed where the sun can reach it every day, it can be made to duplicate the operation of the Pekin Sundial. If every day at exactly the same time, the end of the shadow is marked, it will describe the figure eight or analemma at the end of one year. The figure should be marked with the hour and around the periphery the months should be marked. It is then a permanent marker for the hour that it was made. A separate analemma can be made for each hour of daylight. That is the essence of the exhibit at Pekin.
