  • Moby Max

Math is like a muscle.  If you don't use it, you lose it.  I am VERY EXCITED that Moby Max has been so generous to allow us to use their resource for FREE!  I went ahead and registered all of my students!  If you are looking for additional learning opportunities in math, you can access the site through my web page or by going to

    https://www.mobymax.com/signin

    Our school code is il3758

Students's usernames are the same ones they have been using at school this year:  first name.lastname@pekin108.org

Students' passwords are also the same ones they have been using at school this year.  They begin with a capitol first initial and a lowercase last name initial and end with the letters pps.  If your child is not certain of their password please feel free to reach out to me.

Have students click on the Fluency icon daily and spend about 10 minutes here. This is basically online flashcards.  Students are given 6 seconds to solve each fact.  They will begin with addition fact fluency. Once they can show they have achieved 80% mastery of their addition facts, the program will automatically advance them to subtraction, then on to multiplication and finally, division.  I LOVE that students will be able to see their progress on solving basic math facts in all four of the mathematical operacions.

After spending 10 minutes practicing math fluency, have students exit to the home page and click on the Math icon.  Please note, the first time they do this, they will be taking a math placement test.  This is an important step for students to do on their own so that the program can determine students' areas of strengths and opportunities for growth.  Once the placement test has been completed, students will receive lessons catered to their individual needs.  I LOVE that these lessons are differentiated for learners at all levels.  I also LOVE that the lessons are auditory and visual.  It IS OK to help students when they are learning and practicing lessons.  If you see your child experiencing some frustration feel free to step in and talk them through it.  They will most likely be learning something new because the program knows what areas students need to work on based on their placement test results.  I recommend spending 20 minutes here daily.

I have seen some SERIOUS SUCCESS stories as a result of students using this program in my classroom in the past and I am so very grateful that they are now offering it to students for free!  If students spend a total of 30 minutes on Moby Max daily (10 minutes practicing fluency and 20 minutes in math lessons) they will definitely stay in the game!
