Early voting has started in Tazewell County! From now through November 3, voters in Tazewell County will consider a 1% County Schools Facility Tax, also known as a one-cent tax. We’re excited to share our new video that explains the importance of this referendum and how it will improve educational support for students across our schools.
If approved, this referendum will provide critical funding to support school safety and security, improve facilities, and provide property tax protection through a new revenue source.
The majority of revenue from this tax would be paid by visitors, not Tazewell County taxpayers, because a One-Cent Tax applies to anyone that makes qualifying purchases under current Illinois Law. Visitors that shop and dine in Tazewell County would contribute nearly 60% of this revenue.

As part of our work to engage and inform our families and community members, Pekin 108 will join all school districts across Pekin for an upcoming community information night.
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, all voters in Tazewell County will consider a 1% Illinois County Schools Facility Tax, also known as a one-cent tax, that would impact every school district in the county. This one-cent tax would fund critical improvements to school facilities, creating safer, modern learning environments, while lessening the burden on homeowners by offering an alternative funding source for local schools.
This question impacts all students in Pekin, from elementary through high school. That is why all Pekin residents are invited to join us for a presentation and Q&A with Pekin Community High School District 303, North Pekin-Marquette Heights District 102, South Pekin School District 137, Spring Lake Community Consolidated School District 606, and our district.

Local school leaders will answer questions from community members, as well as share a presentation about how this sales tax operates, including:
What would be taxed
What would be exempt
What the tax can be used for, by law
How non-residents would contribute significantly to this tax
How revenue is distributed and controlled locally

Mr. Sheldon always asks a 5th grade volunteer to be our "John Phillip Sousa" and direct our march during the concert; concert uniform, plume, and extra long baton.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we worked through the transportation challenges experienced on the first day of school.
After working diligently with Alltown Bus Service throughout the day and this evening, we have determined that the current transportation situation does not meet our expectations for the safe and reliable transportation of our students. Student safety must come first, and we are not willing to compromise on that responsibility.
Therefore, District 108 will use two emergency days on Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21, 2026. There will be no school for students on these two days.
During this time, District 108 will continue working closely with Alltown to correct the transportation issues, verify routes and schedules, and ensure we are prepared to safely resume school on Monday, August 24, 2026.
