Ms. Erin Johnson, Principal

Thank you for visiting our Washington Intermediate School website!

My name is Erin Johnson and I am beginning my third year as principal here at Washington. I was born and raised in Pekin and graduated from PCHS in 1999. I attended Bradley University for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I then continued my education with two Master of Arts degrees from St. Xavier University: Teaching and Leadership and my Administrative Type 75.

My educational experiences include 11 years of teaching third grade in multiple districts, 5 years as an Instructor or Student Support and Learning, and starting year 7 as an Administrator with 4 years being the Assistant Principal at Central Primary School in Washington and the last 2 years as Principal at WIS. It is wonderful to be an educational leader back in D108.

On a personal note, I have a blended family structure sharing 5 children, two whom have been students at D108 and my partner is also a school administrator in the area. I am excited and invigorated to begin another year at Washington Intermediate School. I look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our families, staff and students here . We are proud to be Warriors and work hard each day to live out our Washington Warrior Way: We are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!

Mr. Josh Freehill, Assistant Principal

My name is Josh Freehill, and I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal at Washington Intermediate School. It is an honor to join this wonderful school community, and I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated staff, supportive families, and outstanding students here at Washington.

For the past 14 years, I have served as both a teacher and assistant principal at Edison Junior High right here in Pekin. Those experiences have prepared me well, and I am looking forward to bringing my passion for education and student success to Washington Intermediate.

I have lived in central Illinois my entire life and am proud to call this area home. My wife and I are the proud parents of five children, which gives me both a professional and personal understanding of the importance of creating a positive, supportive school environment.

I look forward to a great school year filled with learning, growth, and strong partnerships with you all!
